Wisconsin Center District
Interactive Design
The Wisconsin Center District owns and operates the Midwest Airlines Center, U.S. Cellular Arena and Milwaukee Theatre in downtown Milwaukee. The different venues host a variety of conferences, sporting events and shows. In 2001 WCD approached us to build an umbrella site and 4 daughters sites for each of their venues and the Walk of Fame. The current sites had very minimal information and absolutely no design. From the beginning the goals were clear; to provide valuable information and tools to the public, exhibitors, and promoters that used their facilities.
The result was a similar design that was deployed across the different sites. Using the same content management system for each site WCD was able to easily update their calendar, news, and advertising units on the site. A vast improvement over their first generation site the new creations were functional and quickly became a tool for visitors to the site.
In 2004 WCD approached us again to modify the design of the Milwaukee Theatre site to more fully reflect the events at the facility, and not just the facility itself. Building upon their current tools the calendar was modified to feed the Flash on the home page. Those images helped promote upcoming events while the calendar listing was expanded below to show events for that facility and the others as well.
The result was a more consumer friendly site that is now being considered as the template for the other sites of WCD.
