Oochie

Interactive Design

Oochie is a Web hosting provider dedicated to personal service and reliable hosting. In need of a identity I went about testing different typefaces for their brand. It was a challenging project because "Oochie" is quite a unique word and as a wordmark I had to make it fun, yet recognizable for the Web site, stationary, and other materials.

For those wondering what "Oochie" means it actually evolved from "Oochie Walla Walla", a saying that has popped up in various places over the years. The domain name oochiewallawalla.com was registered by one of the founders and was going to be used for their private server. Instead it was shortened to oochie.com when they decided to evolve into a hosting company.

The site was in desperate need of a revamp and rebrand. It took me quite awhile to capture the "spirit" of Oochie, but I think the wordmark established the overall feel for the company very well. Following the playful logo I used similar bright colors for the site, while focusing on people instead of technology. Every hosting company touts their service and uptime, but they don't focus on the customer experience. Oochie being a smaller company values the experience and understands that their business is entirely word of mouth. That translated well to their online presence.
