MIMA: Milwaukee Interactive Marketing Association
Identity Design
The Milwaukee Interactive Marketing Association (MIMA) is Milwaukee's only interactive-centric professional organization dedicated to the enhancement and acceleration of business opportunities, professional development, and exponential networking for interactive media professionals in Milwaukee.
I designed the second logo on the page with the launch of the first site. I learned a bit about how it could and could not be used. I like the motion of the logo and how the letterforms "interact" with each other but eventually the Board of Directors, myself included, decided to update the logo with the Web site relaunch.
The new logo still plays off of the idea of having the letterforms "interacting", in this case with negative space. It's bolder and reduces better allowing for the full name of the association below the logo or the URL as needed. The scan is off some ideas I had played with before designing the new logo. I like the interaction of forms in the upper left corner and may decide to go that way in the future - but the new logo looks stronger and more distinguished. (Which is important since the organization has just started in 2005)
